Half-life2/steam question

Hey guys I just ordered the game and will be receiving it tomorrow, (it's like christmas eve), but I already own the retail version of counter-strike and thus have a steam account for that. I was wondering if anyone who had a prior account at steam had any diffuculty with getting hl2 up and running? I hear a lot of ppl are cursing steam lately because of all the errors and such so I want to prepare myself for the disappointment of not being able to play the game for a bit. Any input will be appreciated.

I had a prior steam account and didn't have any problems registering HL2. Hopefully everything will go smoothly for you.

Sorry I forgot to mention that not only am I buying the game i'm getting a whole brand spanking new system with it(hence my excitement). I was wondering if my steam account will be accessible on my new comp or if I have to transfer files over???

What you already have registered in your Steam account (Counter Strike) will be accessible. All you'll have to do is d/l and install Steam. Once you login, all your current information will still be there.

When installing HL2 I seem to remember importing my steam account. All that was needed was the account name and password.
