Well, I am realizing that my system is pretty good in all respects EXCEPT my graphics card. I bought it because I enjoy the TV tuner, and the vid capture was very good compared to many standalone tuner cards, but it's an All-in-wonder Pro (Rage Pro chipset, 8 MB RAM) and it simply can't do hardware 3D very good at all.
Now, I don't want a top of the line card with a bajillion megs of RAM; I want something that is good but not super expensive. Basically I want Black and White to actually have a playable level of graphics, and maybe then I could turn on 3d graphics in games like Baldur's Gate II. I'd also like something that had decent TV tuner/vid cap capabilites. Recommendations?

Also
My motherboard only supports 2X AGP, if that makes a difference for what people recommend.

I've always been an ATI fan (currently have an All-in-Wonder Radeon) and really like the Radeon chipset cards and have yet to be disappointed by them. They have them in budget SDR 32Mb PCI/AGP to high end 64Mb cards.

Yeah, I'd agree there. The 32 meg Radeons have great image quality and decent gaming speed even for a first person shooter fan. Plus, ATI of course has always had better "add on" support than anyone else such as DVD assist and TV in/out.

Hmm... just looked at ATI's website. I don't think this will work, because:
a) $300 is pretty steep for me to pay, and b) The included video software doesn't support win95. (I have win95b) |

$300.00???? there are cheaper versions of the Radeon such as the ATI RADEON LE 32MB DDR which I can get for about $160.00CDN, but then there is the OS support, like you said, no 95.

If you're looking for another brand (like NVidia... hint hint (are the subliminal messages working?)), you could check out the ASUS V6800 Deluxe or the ASUS V7100 Deluxe Combo. Both are GeForce 2 MX based cards and the V7100 was listed at pricewatch for $169 + shipping.

I ended up getting a deal on a lesser brand Geforce2 (Elsa brand) that were highly recommended to me from someone else as a great card at a bargain price.
Of course, it has no bells or whistles, but it looks to handle most of what I wanted, and I might just build another system for vid capture anyhow. A system dedicated only to video would probably not set me back by all that much, and would work a heck of a lot better than an all-purpose system. I'd recommend going with the nVidia Geforce2 MX cards. They're really cheap now, and most have the option of getting TV-in/out or dual head for just a few bucks more. I like the Asus v7100. About $145 CDN.
The Radeon LE or VE are good choices as well, and I think they're even cheaper. |

I ended up getting an Elsa Geforce2 for $90 (incl. shipping) and it works great so far!
