EQ 2 or WoW?
I've decided that for Christmas I'm going to get myself an MMORPG as I keep hearing how much fun they are and I'm the type of person who gets addicted to stuff. I've been doing heavy research and trying to decide between Everquest 2 and World of Warcraft. I'm wondering which game is more immersive and fun, and which I can put more time into. Please post your opinions and thoughts about your preferred game and convince me why I should buy your game of choice.

WoW, hands down. I've owned every Blizzard game up to date, and they are without doubt one of the best game developers in the world. I've played the beta, and it's like omgtehpwn

i have WoW (my 1st MMORPG) but never played EQ. from what i hear tho, EQ looks more realistic but is less stable; whereas WoW is more stable, but has cartoony graphics... i've also heard that WoW is more fun.

WoW is definately fun. The graphics may be cartoony somewhat but they do look really good. Not to mention it doesn't take much to run it. I have ever graphic detail maxed out and it runs perfectly, no lag at all. I have EQ but it's just sitting on my shelf collecting dust. I played it for less than a day. There was sooooo much u had to learn to even start playing. With WoW it was extremley easy to just start playing. There was nothing to it. Its not a simple game, it's just really easy to get started. So thats my opinioin.

Yep I'll be getting it soon. What servers are you guys playing on? I'm on the West Coast. It'd be fun to play/party up with a fellow PCMech'er!

WoW is more of a game for the younger group of gamers (and sadly the immature at times). People who enjoyed games like Diablo II love WoW.
EQII on the other hand has more depth, and is there for the hardcore gamer who has been playing for years and wants to play this game for years. It takes a lot longer to gain levels and takes a extremely good computer, 1gig ram and a nice video card. If this is your first MMORPG, WoW would be the logical choice. If you feal WoW is not doing it for you, you might want to try the "Crack" of MMORPGS, EQII. Previosly posted: "WoW, hands down. I've owned every Blizzard game up to date, and they are without doubt one of the best game developers in the world. I've played the beta, and it's like omgtehpwn" If insecure servers and a patch once a year is "the best game developers", you might want to try some new games. When it comes to graphics EQII has the better graphics by far. Graphics don't make a game though as we all know. I played WoW and hearing "omgtehpwn" once a day is one too many times. I'd like to see how many people stop playing after the first 2 months ;/. Just my 2 cents. Was not meant to be a rant. |

Blizzard usually make quality games that don't really require patches, IMHO. I haven't really used their servers, so I can't comment on that.
And I really didn't like Everquest.... too slow, plot development took ages. Haven't played EQII though |

one of the greatest things about WoW is the absence of loading times. totally seamless!!! and dangerous too as there are few ample moments when one thinks, "I should take a break".
