Lower 3dmark2001 score with better and more ram?

I bumped my 3400+ to 2.83GHZ like last time and I have 512 of Corsair XMS 3200 instead of 256 MB of samsung ram pc3200 and my score was 1000 points less? I went from a 20,200 to a 19,400?

Any ideas?

It's my understanding that 3DMark benchmarks are geared more to the Vid Card than memory or cpu speed. Any changes in the vid card area? Like a new driver possibly?

I wouldn't rely too heavily on 3DMark2001SE - it's an older version and so all scores will be just simply "high". It's like a Processor - at one point, when you reach a certain speed, it doesn't become "faster", just simply "fast". Try 3DMark2003 and see what you come up with.

run it a couple of times. the scores tend to fluctuate a lot more with 3Dmark01
