Quickcam messed my games and DirectX

I recently installed the Quickcam express with SW version
5.4.1. After the installation the camera worked but then
none of my games (Diablo II, Quake 3, Serious Sam, etc)
worked. The games would start loading and then the computer
freezes, can't even ctrl-alt-del out, I have to power off
the tower. Even trying to run DXDIAG will crash the PC.

These are my Specs:
AMD Athlon 700, 256 RAM, 32 MB ATI XPERT 2000, SB Live
My OS version is Windows 98 SE
Motherboard is an FIC SD11
The camera is Logitech USB

I already tried Logitech's customer support and also looked
through their support page for any information that might
help but can not find anything that helps.

I tried uninstalling the camera, installing DirectX 8,
upgrading the video drivers for my card, ran Windows File
Checker and did not find any problems. Don't know what else
to try. HELP!
