Exclamation Steam and HL2

Okay I know most of you are tired of hearing about how to load/register and play HL2, but I was wondering how all this works. I've read posts that says you have to play it throught the internet, and some say you don't. So I was wandering if I can go over to a friends house with a external 160gig seagate hd w/usb hookup and load it to that. Then take my hd home and play HL2 on my PC and never have to go online again. I really don't care if I can't play CS right now, cause I really want to play HL2. And a step by step process on how steam works in the registration if you don't mind.

Thanks

Its possible, but if you mean copying the game files downloaded through his account and then playing them on your PC, that would be illegal, and we can't support that here.

sorry

mike

You would have to boot with your HDD in order for the game to be unlocked and settings written to the registry. You can, however, bring your entire computer to your friend's house and plug into his net connection. After unlocking the game, a net connection is not necessary.

Make sure that you do have your own account, though. Valve is really craking down on users pirating the game, which includes permanent bans from steam.

Bring your PC over there. Make sure you have your own CD key.

Hey I've got another question about the Special DVD-ROM Edition of Half Life 2, the 80USD one. Does it come with the original Half Life game judt remade with the new graphics? I read the review of this package but was just a bit confused and wanted to make sure.

Thanks

This is what is included:
Quote:
Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source, a Half-Life 2 T-shirt and a Prima book sampler
The graphics in HL:source are the same, but there have been some revisions to the physics engine.

Just to clarify a bit. HL1 Source will look the same as the original HL. In other words, there is no update in graphics.
