Next Generation of Consoles

What do you guys think about this? Has anyone heard the rumors about the release of three types of xbox 2's and possibly multiple types of PS3's? Any of this legit?

I know the Xbox 2 story with 3 different Xbox 2 variants M$ has already denounced as false (which probably means it's true, and somebody is getting fired for talking too much) But the multiple versions of the ps3 probably spun off from the xbox 2 story.

I personally think that if they did that then it would discourage people from buying them since certain games would probably only be made for the higher end models that supported a hard drive. I was just curious the other day and did a google search on the subject and this is what I found.

I definitly dont see them putting a CD burner on the console. Thats just asking for even more piracy. Then again,I didnt think they'd ditch the HD......

they ditched the hard drive because flash memory is being much easier to make recently and nobody was using the Xbox hard drive as they thought it would be used (in game content such as maps, etc, music, stuff like that). i know my friend with a library of like 30 games with xbox live content installed and like 2 cds of songs on it still hasn't gotten under 40k+ blocks availible.

Unless you hear something, specifically from Microsoft, its a rumor. There are ALOT of rumors going around, you can read some more in the latest Official Xbox Magazine issue. (or was that 2 back...) To confirm, the HDD HAS been dropped. There where plans to put in a 120GB HDD, but they dropped them, to cut costs. There are plans to *confirmed by MS* sell the HDD seprately, and hook it to the xbox via USB. Also, there is only ONE version of the Xenon, or Xbox Next, or Xbox 2, as people may call it. There is NOT a CD burner in it, or plans for one to be released as an add on... The modding community could simply add one if they chose, and the average user of the console would have no need for one.

There are so many great things going around, about the Xenon, watch out for what you believe. Kinda like Bungie and Halo 2, more will be cut then put in.

Hope Ive helped -Corksil

I've heard microsoft is going to switch to flash memory to cut down on modding and piracy. This way you can't replace the hard drive with a bigger one to copy games onto illegally. This could be another rumor though i'm not sure.

As far as I have heard, thats the truth. No more modding. That REALLY blows.

until somebody makes a 40GB flash mem card... that would be awsome. you already have small HDs with PCMIA cards, lets shrink it 1 more time
