HL2 game play Q
Not having much time to "play," I'm finally up to "Follow Freeman" in the game. It's nice having Rebel escorts, but they get in the way more than they help, it seems. I can "send" them somewhere by tapping the "C" key, but as soon as I move, they all come running up. I keep dying 'cause they are in the way and can't move.... or they all die cause I can't get them to a safe place.
So, is there anyway to have more control over them? Or even just a "stay" key? TIA

I got tired of trying to keep them out of harms way and just kept them out of my way, but you have to keep one or two alive I just didn't worry about keeping all of them alive.
Nothing to do with the post but since I finished HL2 a few weeks ago I picked up Halo2 yesterday (which I swore I wouldn't do) but it was my yearly gift to myself and I find it's not near as good as HL2.

Halo 2 is only the middle game of three. I didnt like it too much -- it didnt take too long to beat with my brother and I going at it coop. The online play was pretty bad -- I game online with my pc, so it's hard not to be biased.
Sorry to keep getting off your topic...

Thanks, lil Jimmie. -- I haven't even considered Halo yet because of all the problems I heard about when it first came out for the PC, but sounds like I'll stay away from Halo 2, also. Haven't heard about Halo 3 though......

What I did was to keep sending the rebels as far away as possible. ALso use them as your point by sending them ahead of you. Try to keep a medic. Where in "Follow Freeman" are you? Depending on where you are you will meet up with more rebels.

Can't think of the name of the place off the top of my head, but it's where you meet the tall spidery things (striders?). After several attempts I made it out of the one building, thru the open air / court yard area, and into the other building. I gave up trying to kill all the striders and am now trying to just run thru the "maze" of broken buildings. Ya, I picked up more rebels, and they're all dead already

If you went into a room where there are rebels in a cell and freed them run to the opposite side of the court towards a building there is a door you have to go into. To kill the striders you will come across a unlinmited box of RPG's crouch and shoot carefully. You can kill all of them or else they will keep finding you. Sorry I am at work and am thinking off the top of my head.

I had the same problem with the antlions. They were always getting in my way, but at least the antlions were easy to get rid of and I didn't feel bad about wasting a few rounds in them!

I hear ya, roomwithamoose. At least with the antlions I seemed to be able to get rid of them a lot easier, but they were a pain at times. |

Happy hunting. I also brought the PRIMA book on HL2 has alot of good stuff. But play the game first then if you get stuck you can refer to the maps and walk through

That question can't be answered without totally hijacking this topic. If you have any Halo1 or 2 questions, come to me. I've probably played Halo xbox, halo pc, halo custom edtion, and halo 2 for around 700-800 hours minimum so I think I know what I'm talking about

You know I might have liked Halo better if it had had better graphics. It's visually unimpressive on the xbox -- but it never amazed me on the pc either. Maybe with my new video card it'll look better.
The first Halo did amaze me when I first played it, but Halo 2 is just a regurgitation of it with an altered storyline. The only reason people are going to buy the third one is to see how it finally ends since each game has such a twist. But on the flip side, there are many people out there who argue Halo is the best game ever, so I guess it's just personal taste. Also there is only so much the xbox can achieve visually so I guess that has to be overlooked when playing it on a console. |

Now don't get me wrong -- Halo is a great game if you've never played it before, but I just got frustrated since I pre-ordered Halo 2 and dished out $50 for it only to find the difference to a new option for online play through Xbox Live. That was alright, but the people on there were a little creepy
But yeah, the original Halo is still around $30 I think. If you have an xbox and know somebody who has it, give it a whirl -- if not then pick it up after awhile and see what you think. It's worth playing at least one of them just so you can say you have
