Half Life 2 wont go "next" after direct X

I searched alittle and didn't see any posts related to this...

I put the cd in, runs... Go through setup, get to "Install has detected direct x 9b and will not attemp to update"

then it just stops. i can go back, but cant click next

anyone?

my friend told me that he kept getting an error, so he just used his cd key to get it off steam... think this would work? i dont wanna waste a cd key doing it

I didn't know you could do CD version CD-Keys off Steam but I think they updated that so it should work.

When you register with Steam it will register the cd-key through there also, so you are mainly just choosing where to install from, internet or CD, but both will register your cd-key through steam and the internet. ¿Comprende?

erm, does anyone have a rollback link where i could go to a direct x 8? so that it will update and move on?

Just update to DX9.0c

after alittle research on sierra's site i found that the problem was i didn't have enough space left on my hardrive

its workin good now, thanks for the suggestions
