Using Microphones in online gameplay
What does everyone use hardware and software wise to talk to people during online gameplay like Battlefield 1942, UT2004, etc... Can you buy just a microphone and have your voice play out on someone elses speakers or would I need the whole headset with mic? What is a good program for people to communicate with eachother and what is a good microphone or headset/mic if I need both. Thanks

i just have a microphone, but a headset works very well too. The two programs that I can think of that people use to talk to eachother is Teamspeak and Ventrillo. Some games, like Counter Strike have voice features already built into the game so you don't need to get any voice chatting software.

You would just need a simple microphone.

I use Teamspeak,
http://www.goteamspeak.com/downloads.php As far as hardware goes, of course you would need a MIC. http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp...P-018B&cat=SPK

I assume you have speakers. The "noise" will go through them

Just mentioning...
I use Skype, for VOIP chat. (Voice over internet protocol) Skype is a free program, free to use, unless you want to call acutal phone numbers from your computer. I use skype, when playing Halo over xbox connect. I got my friend to download it, and it works great. In my opinion, it is a million times higher quality then telephone.** www.skype.com **This program is in NO WAY related to games, I just use it as a handy voIP 3rd party program. ****EDIT**** Skype is a great program for chatting with your Grandmother, Im sure thats what all of you had in mind.

There also a program called Ventrilo and its voice clarity seems to be unmatched...
