Can I DL Halflife 2 still?

My friend did it before release then bought a key and played it.

My CD 2 is scratched and I can't install but I have a perfectly good key?

Can I still download it?

If you have a perfectly good key, install everything through Steam then enter the CD Key to unlock it.

Steam does suck. That I have to have a stupid utility running in my systray just to be able to play a game is downright ridiculous, not to mention the long response time when you click a link in their web site to download anything.

if you d/l hl2 thru steam, you can burn it to dvd.
if you lose the dvd, you can download the whole game again......i wish i had done it that way....

Wierd - it allowed me to install Half Life thorugh a CS/HL CD Key. I guess the situation with Half Life 2 is a bit different. Either way, you still have a legitemate claim to the game - I'd give Steam an email.
