Yet another HL2 question

Okay I finaly beat HL2 on my new build and It seems I'm missing somthing.
Here is a screenshot I'd seen on the internet that I didn't see while playing. What is that blue energy tentacle thing. And you can see the movie clip of it Here . Watch the clip label tunnels. It's at the end.(The blue tentacle thing)

That is called the Hydra, and quite a few levels were designed around it. That pic is taken from the e3 teaser videos, not from the full version of the game. I guess the idea was scrapped because the Hydra looked cool, but was no fun to fight.

I played it 3 times now and hav'nt seen that......going on my 4th, I agree it was cut out just look at the level its so much differant.

Nope, it's not in the game.

I haven't heard an official explaination about why it wasn't used, but I'm guessing they had trouble with it, couldn't settle on a design, couldn't work it into the story, or just ran out of time to complete it.

That thing probably would have been tougher than the creature inhabiting the missle silo in the origional HL.

It looks awesome, but if you ask me a 3vs1 strider battle is hard enough as it is.
