Have you tried Americas Army? It's multiplayer only but it's a great game. Plus it's free. I also like Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. It's another multiplayer only game. Brothers in Arms, which is coming in March, looks promising. Unfortunately MOH: Pacific Assault was a big flop.

Halo, AVP2 (old and ugly, but fun)

![]() I saw it several times at EB Games and real cheap ($ 14.99) but always waited to see if it would get cheaper. Too bad it never did and now it's gone. |

Half Life one is pretty fun but HL2 probably makes it seem obsolete

Try out the Jedi Knight Series: either Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast or Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I would also reccommend Halo and the Half-Life Series

I have Chaser, it's good. I bought mine at Best Buy, but that was a while ago so I don't know if they still carry it. You can get it at Amazon.com for $19.99. Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is good, as is Jedi Academy. I've been playing Knights of the Old Republic lately. I like it, but it's not a FPS, I think it's considered role playing.
A FPS that I really liked was Soldier of Fortune: Double Helix. It too is older, but the graphics and storyline were good. Scomac |

How could I forget! Tom Clancy Splinter Cell is one of my favorite games. I have it on Xbox. I still have to get the second one.

Max Payne 2 (its a 3rd person game, but has one of the most compelling storylines IMO), Painkiller, and Postal 2 are pretty good. Unreal 2004 is really good...especially if you dig fast paced online play.

Did you buy the silver package from Steam? I would suggest Day of Defeat: Source when it comes out.. Since it looks like you play some WW2 FPS.... I really like Day of Defeat... more team work seems to be involved to complete map objectives...

swampdonkey mentioned the JK series and the are good games (IMO I thought Outcast was better than Academy) ANd if you don't mind kinda obsolete graphics there is a game called Jedi Knight II: Dark Forces II. It was made in about 97-98 but it was a pretty good game. Possible my favorite SW game but I don't play it as often as I used what with high graphics game like HL2 and such. THe whole JK series is 1st or 3rd person game. (you can switch between 1st and 3rd peson whenever you want to though)

The original Dark Forces was a very good game. Of course if you are a graphics freak you won't like it at all, for it came out in 1994 or '95, but if you value gameplay over eye candy, see if you can get it.

I might be alone on this, but if you like the WWII thing, I think Hidden and Dangerous 2 is great, if underrated and overlooked. It does take alot of time to play, but I found it rewarding. I enjoyed the tons of equipment options (although it takes a while to set up for each mission because of this) and ability to plan each mission on the fly with some RTS like features. But if you are easily frustrated by planning, try any of the Unreal Tournament games for great quick action fixes. I'll also go along with the others on AVP2. I love that one.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I do have some games lying around.
FPS games: If you liked Half-Life, see if you can find the Half-Life Platinum Collection for $40 you get: Half-Life Game of the Year Edition Half-Life: Opposing Force Team Fortress Classic Counter-Strike Blue Shift Opposing Force is where you: "Return to Blace Mesa as a military specialist tasked with eliminating Gordon Freeman, and ensuring that all evidence of an alien outbreak is concealed." And in Blue Shift you get to explore parts of Black Mesa that you coulden't get into in the first game as a security guard that worked with Gordon Freeman in the first game. Also includes Half-Life HD Pack. Also I would recommend Halo, best game EVAR, and if you get bored, look for mods, or Halo CS or whatever it is called, with all the extra levels. And of course, Unreal Tournament 2004. |

Descent 3 is an old game but lots of fun. I would imagine you can get it for 9 bucks now.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein, or Enemy Territory
Both are pure classics in my opinion, in addition Enemy Territory is free. RTCW is just cheap, old, but good. It has better graphics than some of the games today and it was released in 2001.

Try Deus Ex, Max Payne and Splinter Cell for a little more thought in a game than the FPS genre, they're very good.

hmmmm
Max Pain wasnt to bad, but getting long in tooth.
AVP was a "fun" game but its really old now. On 3/8/2005 Brothers in Arms is coming out for PC (out for xbox now). If U like milatary FPS, you are gonna love this on. It looks really good. I am waiting for it on the PC. I dont have the links, but should be easy to find PAINKILLER was ALOT of fun and pretty new. If U havnt played it, try it. I think thers a DEMO. Someone also mentioned Tom Clancy games. I put in more hours on Ghost Recon then any shooter. But its squad based. Not like the swat 4 that is out now. U really get to use the squads, and makes you use your brain along with great action. AND, there is a ton of MODs and MAPs, some better then the original game. |
