Have you inserted the disk as it asks? It will be either CD1 or the Play CD.

If you are playing with a pirated copy, updates sometimes change game executables that can tell whether you have a copied CD. Do you have a legal copy of the game?

Try cleaning off the CD with a cotton cloth or lint free cloth.

I'm sure you are using the same CD-ROM that you installed from, right? Just checking, thanks... have a good one.

Do you have Windows XP? NFS High Stakes is not compatible with XP. In fact, it isn't compatible with any newer hardware. I have had no success in getting High Stakes to run on either of my machines. I even installed 98 on my K-6 533mhz and put in an old Voodoo3 video card and I still couldn't get the game to run. I either got an "AMF=Platform 16" or "No disk" error. The last time I played that game was on my now defunct AMD 233mhz with a 4MB Monster3D video card.

I have contacted EA several times on that issue and it has gotten me nowhere. They are no help. The problem isn't just with Windows XP. I can actually run the game in XP but it only runs in software rendered mode wich is extremely slow and looks horrible. It's the video card that the game doesn't recognize.
