CS is not noob-friendly. You'll be watching others play more than you'll be playing yourself at first. Once you get good at it it's a lot of fun. Been playing for over 2 years

Counter Strike isn't worth it. It's rampant with people who are too good and people who cheat. Counter Strike: Source is a lot more balanced if you ask me.

It's almost impossible to cheat in CS:S. Valve has done a good job keeping it cheat-free.

I would buy Counter-Strike Source. Its a shame that a great series such as Counter-Strike has a horrible community. Yes there are plenty of fun and respectful people to play with.. But theres a HANDFUL of immature people who will flame you, call you a "noob", and act as if they own the server and the game. Some people are just have no life.. Thats the way it is...

CS: S, in my opinion is better than 1.6 because it has ragdoll physics, all around better graphics, and a slightly less crazed elitist community that 1.6 has... Once you find the right servers for Counter-Strike Source it is endless fun. Oh yeah... one more tip.. Get the Silver package from Steams website... Its the best bang for your buck IMO... you get:

Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 2
Half Life Source
Half Life 2 Death match
Day of Defeat Source(will be out early spring! Best fps..)
And Valves Back Catalog... which if Im not mistaken includes all of the old games like Half Life, Team Fortress Classic, CS 1.6 etc etc

hth

Once your up and running with source I am an admin on a server. 69.90.113.70. We have most of the good custom maps out there and all the offical ones. We don't tolerate excessive flaming of players (we allow a little bit of razing but thats it), racism, or excessive cursing. The cursing, and making fun of people, I hate to say, is part of the game. Its really fun when you start killing "too many people" and get called a hackor. Anyway enough of my tangent. If you want a good server to play on go to that one. Look for [TDS]Jester_USAF. I'm one of the admins there and most are kind enough to tell you how to plant the bomb instead of shooting you in the head and stealing it

I hate it when that happens.

I agree. Buy Counter-Strike Source. It's lots of fun and on most servers the jerks who are TKing and causing other problems get banned. If you dont like the server you are on there are hundereds to choose from with very low ping times. I have had more fun playing this game against other people online than any other game.

I'm sorry to say it but that's not true. I and a couple of friends have a CS:S server, I banned 6 players just today. Valve released CS:S with VAC (Valve anti-cheating system) which scans your game for any changes that could be hacks. Unfortunately hackers had a simple time getting around this and Valve has promised a VAC2, to be released soon.

Now don't get me wrong, Valve has released some great games but when it comes to putting material out it's not very punctual.

If you wanna see an example of how easy it is to cheat go visit myg0t.com. These people make it their goal to cheat and they don't do it to look as though they are good. They do it to piss people off. A couple will find a server with no admin, take it over with wallhacks/speedhacks/aimbots and spam voice/text chat. When they get tired of raping the server they make it crash.

Anyway to answer the posters question, yes, CS:S is a great game. I consider it much better than Call of Duty. Also if anyone wants to visit a great server that's 24/7 office let me know. I will give you an IP address.

It's sad that there's people out there like this.... the one that annoys me most of all is wall hackers who don't even have the decency to let you start. In 1.6 they shoot you as the game starts, it removes the fun for anyone

It's just as bad in Halo: Custom Edition. Except without the cheating. One of the best servers, Hive, was the main victim. Within 4 seconds somebody could join a game and crash the server for a few hours.

Haha...If you went to Myg0t.com and tried to get a hack I wouldn't recommend it. People will come asking for hacks in their forums all the time. At first they act nice and say, "Ya download this. You have to turn off your virus protection for some reason. Extract this. Open this." etc etc. A few days later that same person asking for the hack gets on and says, "OMG dat file erased everything on ma comp!!!1 I just was able to connect to the net today!!!" and so forth.

And then everybody laughs at the guy for being a complete moron.
