Smile "Call Of Duty" problem

Hello,
I've got a Gigabyte mobo, 2.0 gig Celeron, 512 ram, 80gig HDD, on-board video.
The "Call Of Duty" game loaded fine(no errors) set @ 800x600 and graphics are smooth, not choppy. But anywhere there are letters/words. the letter/words are garbled/digitalized. Game plays fine even though you can't read any instructions.
Is this a side-effect of the on-board video?
Other programs/games are fine - no side effects.
I downloaded the latest DirectX - no difference
Thanks!

The original CoD had some bugs but there have been several patches- have you installed those?
