What gaming Phrases do you use

I was IMing a friend to day and I thought about this. I had a bad case of the y's. This is when you are typing normally in an IM and put y before everything as in CSS teamspeak i.e. yhow are you doing today? I aslo find my self using: ***, omg, lol, ROFL, lamo, and rgr. So what phrase do you use in everyday typing?

Well I don't use any of those phrases (I find it extremely annoying, but I can type the regular word just as fast as the short form, so I'm lucky to be a hlaf dcenet typsit ), but maybe I can get some help here. Does anyone know what the heck "woot" means?!?! I see it plastered all over the place but I have never seen anyone that actually know what it means. Like Mom & Dad used to always say... "if you don't know what it means, you shouldn't be saying it!".

Perhaps there should be a dictionary (we could call it WBSTRS) for all of these terms for those of us who don't have a clue what you are saying.

Woot originated as a hacker term for root (or administrative) access to a computer. However, with the term as coincides with the gamer term, "w00t".

"w00t" was originally an trunicated expression common among players of Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role-playing game for "Wow, loot!" Thus the term passed into the net-culture where it thrived in video game communities and lost its original meaning and is used simply as a term of excitement.

I can not post the phrases I use on here because I would be banned. As for people who use the word noob I really get annoyed by that. Somebody just trying to play the game and have fun and people start getting on there case. Just leave em alone and let him have fun; you gotta start somewhere.

The only one I use is LOL. That's it. I'd rather type the words in proper english since I can type them just as fast as the abreviations.

w00t, lol, rotfl, btw, imo, imho, brb, bbiab, and various harware and software abbreviations. I usually write out just about everything so I convey all my words clearly. I type fast enough so the web abbreviations aren't necessary.

I usually type things out. But I occasionally use brb or lol, but I've pretty much stopped using lol and have gone to "haha".

I completely forgot about w00t. Which originated from woot, which was derived from w.o.o.t. which is We Owned Other Team. I can go along with the other explaination too as I have seen it used that way. So I forgot about w00t, nub, hax0r, r0x0r, AWP whoor, pwned, owned, p0wnz0red, and a few others that are probably not forum appropriate. As far as typing them all just as fast regularly as short hand, its not so much the speeling, punctiation ect., as it is the lingo. You just start using it and its Funz0rs

Edit: Don't forget teh and seckseh

Totally agree, I find myself using words like that at work, sometimes people laugh cause they use them too, then other times they just stare at me. The first ones that come to mind are pimptacular and fantabulous. I said dramasically a long time ago by accident and it kinda stuck.

I have found myself typing /me before a sentance, but not y. /me needs to get a drink. Then I forget I'm not in a chat room.

Forget about usage of gaming phrases in IM services. I use LOL in *real* life (puzzles computer illiterate people in a manner I uberly enjoy). Another phrase I use quite a lot is "well, that's a damn fine coincidence!!" albeit I change it to "well, that's a sweet fine coincidence!" when talking to ladies or whenever women are around. (Veteran RPGers will know where that one comes from immediately).

I am sure I use other phrases from games in my everyday speech, but I can't remember them all now.

I used to use LOL a lot, but it used to irritate even me how much I used it so it's virtually gone. I find it much easier just to type the whole thing, I used to also use gtg and brb, but I never really have much need for it any more

It's interesting to note that in the 4 yrs since I really last played CS online (I played it on the LAN here a bit), the number of those little sayings has increased exponentially. When I was around there was only brb, gg, lol, roflmao, although w00t was starting to appear. And we spelt n00b newb or newbie

Once again I totally forgot about GG. Course it has two different meanings. There is the sarcastice "you are an idiot" GG and the Good Game GG. I use the first in matches and scrims, and the later in pub. Some people need to RTFM before playing a game. Then they need to learn how to use a Flashbang before they get me killed to many times. GG nubs who don't know how to use FB's

Yeah, it can be frustrating when they can't use fb's, or panic and lob them at the first sign of the enemy
However, instead of your sarcastic gg I tend to use gwd. I'm sure you can work it out, if not pm me.
