Two video cards vs. one??

Would there be any reason to use two 6600 gt cards instead of one 6800 gt ultra and which setup would be the best?

GT Ultra? Pick one. Anway, a single 6800GT is faster than two 6600GTs.

Sorry, that gt just jumped in between the 6800 and the ultra.

So the 6800 ultra @ $499 vs. the 6600gt/2 @ $358 = $141 Question now, (very subjective?) is the ultra $141 better than the 6600GT?

Very much so. Hell, a single 6800GT pummels SLI 6600GTs once you turn up the resolution and crank up the AA and AF

Get an SLI motherboard, and two pci-express SLI compatible nVidia cards. Put both in, insert a bridge chip between the cards, and you're ready to roll.

Also, for a gaming build, A64. Better gaming performance, and a better price/performance ratio.

why don't you actually wait a little bit before buying a vid card right now since the R520 is supposed to come out in 2-3 months and it is supposed to be AMR compatible. AMR is ATi's version of SLi and it seems to be only for Intel at least at launch.

I agree - the "Fudo" should be pretty good. I also hear ATi is going with a 90nm fabrication process on this, which right now, is unheard of in the mainstream graphics industry. Intel or AMD? This tells me, wait and find out

heard that wayyy too much from ATI and Nvidia.. still waiting for that ATI chipset which was supposed to come in january..

i'd go for the 6800GT, it does everything in massive resolution, full AA/AF and all with good frame rates, and it does it now. and it doesn't limit you to a particular platform either.
