What you will get if you sign up for this is spam...lots. It won't ever stop and as your email address gets sold on more and more lists it will get worse. You will eventually give up and make a new email address, thinking fondly to the day before you signed up for this. Back when the only spam you got was your Aunt (insert matronly name here) sent you "take this test" or "bill gates email tracking program".
God help you if you gave your phone number out and allowed it to be shared with "partners" to become eligible for the "free" ds you have to sign your life and privacy away for. There is a reason that these creeps are willing to give away a few ipods, flatscreens,DS's etc...Most people never jump through enough hoops to get one, and the few who do...small potatos compared to the value of 10,000 active email addresses that given permision to be contacted by "partners"..which is a thinly veiled codeword for spammers. I wonder what it is about the internet that makes people think sometimes things are free on it? Is it a detached felling, that this isn't "the real world"......... Guess what, it is, and your information is the most valuable data on it. Last edited by rightcoast; 03-29-2005 at 10:30 AM. |
