Anyone played Starshatter? Any good space sims?
I loved the X-wing series, but not Freespace. Wondering if starshatter is worth getting. Reviews are spotty.

I found the demo. It's alright I guess. I'm not sure I'll get the full game. It's not polished enough for me. What can I say? I'm shallow. I need bells and whistles. It's not very engrossing due to lack of radio chatter, 3-d cockpits/bridges ground objects, better space to atmosphere transitions and other small details. I know I'm asking alot, but I'll just wait until someone makes a space sim I can get excited about.

Yeah, Freelancer looks fun. Kinda like a FPS in a spaceship thing. I might try that one, although I really want something like Falcon 4 in space with IL2 quality graphics, no plotline or characters, just huge dynamic battles/campaigns. Is "realistic space sim" an oxymoron? I'm just dreaming out loud here...

What you need is a space version of Fighter Ace 3... that would be cool

Freelancer doesn't really have that much of a plot... it's a good fun game, though after a while it can get a bit monotonous, it's like the empire building games where once you do the first 20 challenges and reach a certain point it becomes much less of a challenge
