Playstation 2 Help please(I hate to post this cuz i think its in the wrong spot)

Tell me why, the only problem I have is playing God of War. Every game I own boots up and plays fine, except for God of War. Gran Turismo 4 Works no problem (example of a new game). My friends PS2 boots up MY GOW disc immediately. At first I had to turn on the Diagnosis, but now not even that is working. I do have one of the older SCPH-30001 units, but the damn thing was fixed like 2 years ago by Sony because of excessive disc Read errors. I call tech support and all they tell me is to send it in and get it fixed. Well I'm not paying them $75 for them to dust the damn thing. Does anyone know what the problem is, any help would be great. Keep in mind that God of War is the ONLY game that gets a disc read error. Can someone please help me, i cannot afford a new one so i have to find a solution for this one. Thanks...

Is the disk scratched? If all your other games are working fine then it might just be a problem with that particular disk.

He said it worked fine in a friends machine... perhaps phone the company that makes the game (or go to their website) and see if anyone else has had the same problem. If it's just your machine, then no matter how much you don't want to part with the lucre, you may have to, but otherwise someone else might have had the problem

Oops, guess I didn't read through it carefully enough.

Does your friend have a newer model PS2, for if my memory serves me right older models of the PS2 had trouble reading some disks ( Getting old )? Another thing to try is to clean your PS2 with a cleaning kit that is sold in most stores, even though it will play other disks it might still be a little dirty inside (is your other games loading longer in your PS2 than your friends?).

I've had the same problem, didn't try it on another machine though.
I got it to work once and played for a while, now it won't load. Hope this isn't a problem with many more newer games or I'll be playing Xbox untill PS3.
