Guild Wars?

Is it worth the 50.00 dollars for this game. Would a hard core FPShooter like myself who enjoyed Diablo 2 enjoy this game?

Its pretty explanitory i think, but i can spell it out more. Do the people that have this game think that I would enjoy it, based on the facts that i like FPS and Diablo 2?

I'd like to know the same question. My friend told me last night that I should go and get it, but he was too busy playing to tell me much about it.

I'll ask him today what it's like, but he did say it resembled Diablo 2 (which is what he used to be addicted to years ago).

I just got this game and I LOVE IT. I am just getting into it and took an hour playing around with the setup and game play. I can move my character around like its a first person shooter. If you like Diablo 2 and D&D and MMORPG's then you will love this. read the discription of the game at www.guildwars.com It's a great game and I think it will suck me in. I might have to buy another account so that the wife can play.

I might try this out- I'm starting to tire of the spawn camping needed in WoW- you show up for a quest site and there three other groups (15 people) doing the same quest- so everyone stands around and waits for the monsters/bosses to respawn- which leads to very unrealistic experience. sounds like Guild Wars eliminates this (and also the monthly fee).

So you like it I've met quite a few who regret evrey second playing/paying for the game. I'll hold back on MMORPG for the next 5-10yrs, maybe then they figured out some way how to incorporate my wholeself in the game, instead of lookcing/clicking on the screen

Lol raskolnikov, you dont even know what forum your in, this is actually pcMech.com. Anyway I am also thinking about getting guildwars once i get back to the states. So is it similar to Morrowind except online? Being FP and all. Ive played alot of MMORPG and havent regretted it at all, its always a fun experience.

Ras, didnt mean to offend, just thought it was funny. Sigh these darn government computers block all gaming websites so i cant even check out the guildwars site. Would this game work on dial-up or do you need broadband?

Ras you are not in the CAL forums, or Gaming forums. We have a standard of professional friendlyness here, so please refrain from flaming here. Its not tolerated. I don't appricate being told that I had no question. I just decided to buy the game before my question was ever fully answered. The answer to both my questions is Yes. Yes it is well worth thte 50 bucks, and yes a hardcore FPS guy like myself would like it. Its a very addictive game. I got online last night to play for an hour and ended up playing for three without realizingit. In answer to prew, yes this game eliminates the spawn caming, because the incounters are instanced. I dont have to wait for a baddie to respawn because the quests are for each individual or if you have a team its for that team. You can go thru this entire game without a team, but it adds to the RPG portion of it if you have a team and build your character yourself.

Someone told that it was a mostly PvP game and that there wasn't much to do on the RP side- what's your opinion?

I havent gotten out of the begining of the game yet. There is an RPG side that lets you do the game and some PVP and then there is a stricktly PVP side that starts you out at lvl 20 and you get ot choose your armor and stuff but you cant go a questing. I will be further into the game tonight and I can let you know.

Keep us updated... I have been looking closley at this myself mostley because of the No Pay To Play... Other games attempting this (while very good games) have failed to stand a test of time.

myself, I played beta one time. I did have the game on pre order, but the day it came in I decided I didn'thave the time to put in to it. The graphics looked good and from what I did in beta the game play was good. I can't say anything negitive from my limited time playing it, but I decided not to get deep into it.

I just realized that this was the game which I played last summer when they released the (Alpha?) version for three days to let players have a sneak peak at what they had created. It was very limited then, but I remember I enjoyed it.

I'm eyeing it closely because, like fudtone, it's not a pay-to-play game. I like the idea behind its making its revenue - expansions. I'm likely going to demo it whenever that comes out and making a re-entry into the lost world of RPGs that I've been out of for a while.

On that same note, Gamespot recommends it highly - game of the month. A 9.2 (?) rating means something.

Hey guys just a question here real quick. I really want to get Guild Wars but I don't have the money. But I was wondering if maybe someone wanted to trade Guild Wars for FarCry? I have FarCry OEM with a legit serial and everything so you can make an account online so if anyone is interested in trading let me know! Here is the game that I have...

Anyways hit me back peace

The fact that you are incline to play FPS, should not by any means influence your opinion about GWs, that is till you play it.

I bought this game last monday (9th) and let me tell you, I can not stop playing, there is so much to do! The graphics are stunning. I am a big FF type of guy so I am very familiar with the RPG game experience. However this is the first time I play a MMORPG, and wow! I love it. oh yeah did I mention, NO MONTHLY FEES!!!

One more question- is it easy to find groups to quest with?

I think I'll get this game as soon as I reach lvl 60 in Wow (lvl 46 now).

yes its easy to find groups to quest with, and if for some reason there is a lack of people you can change districts in that area, or there is alwats the option of picking up npc hencmen.

I just heard thats there is no monthly fee, after reading the reviews about it. Is this true? This will be a big bonus to those who live outside US to get a chance to actually buy it and play it. Bootlegs will not work AFAIK.
