I think I screwed up. I just received my ATI Radeon w/64mb and I'll most likely have to send it back
This card has a composite Video in port, so it can only import video but not audio right? (I need both) When they were talking about composite ports in the description and was sure they meant Video and Audio. So can any Radeon owner verify it for me? It can't import audio with this card right?I think I'll have to ship it back and order an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon card since that one has those ports for sure. Also only the AIW card has the neat remote port box right? Because the Radeon did not have it. |

Sorry just found this in the ATI's FAQ
From ATI Radeon FAQ ---Snip--- Q17: Do RADEON™ boards support audio capture? A17: The RADEON™ 64MB DDR VIVO (video-in/video-out) video capture software is capable of capturing audio when used in combination with the system sound card. While ALL-IN-WONDER® RADEON™ products allow you to pass through audio from an external source (e.g. camcorder or VCR) for convenience, all sound capture is performed by the sound card in your machine. ---Snip--- So what they are saying is that if connect my composite Video In to the Radeon card and my composite audio in my sound board's Audio In it will capture both? Anyone tried it? Does it do it automaticaly or is there some setting I should know about? Thanks. |

It should all happen automatically unless there is a setting for audio input in your capture software, but that should be pretty straight forward.

It just happens. Just hook everything up correctly, making sure that your audio goes into the line in not the mic in, and you are all set. Even with the A-I-W, it's a pass-through to the sound card -- one more gain stage to have noise added IMHO, so using each card for what they are intended for is the better way to go.
