Ive seen ps1 emulators but ive never used one. From what ive read it will only work for certain games. I imagine it would take a decent video card also. I remember trying to play emulated nintendo 64 games on my old 300mhz computer with a tnt2 video card and that didnt work so well. You would have to look in the emulator options to see if it supports game pads and all the ones ive used do, so i would think that it would. Most of the emulators authors have their own webpages where you can find system requirements/recommendations of some sort. Also you must own the game in order to play it.

Emulators reside in a gray area in terms of legality. In any case, I doubt you are going to be able to find any functional emulators for a PS1, and certainly not a PS2. Emulators are by definition slower than the real hardware. This doesn't matter for emulators of 8-bit consoles, but recent consoles are too powerful to be emulated well in software.

Im not positive but i read that as long as you own the game you can legally download the rom. I also read something about if you download a rom and dont own it, you must delete it within 24 hours. I would like to know the actual law/rules of downloading emulators and roms.

I doubt it would be legal if you're talking about modern games, such as those for the ps2. Each student had shared space back in high school (you log in and you have your own space on the server to save things -- allows you to access your files from anywhere in the school). Anyway, I had a snes emulator on my drive which got me through many a class .

technically if u dont own it its illegal but i have an xbox emulator (and i happen to have a xbox) and it kinda started having glitches... and i didnt want to fix it cuz its expensive enough to buy a new xbox. anyhow it works well w/ what i have right now, tho it could be more powerful, and some games dont run, and some games are just plain laggy, (blood wake is actually easier on pc, so is crimson skies, tho i have that for pc anyhow). i have also have n64 and i have an emulator for that too, (lol i had it running on my old 300mhz before i upgraded er rebuilt last year) and that too works, there are places where they sell adaptors for controllers, i have a mouse and keyboard adaptor for xbox, (rocks on xbox lan parties) and my friend actually took an old usb cord and soldered the xbox controller and that together and it works (tho he had to make his driver so that xp would reconize) but yea, they sell those too, not homemade w/ ducktape but an actual after market product. they also have PS2 version. both for pc and ps2.

yeah legal stuff is rather confusing but as long as you have it its usually fine. that 24hr thing, if its really serious means that there is some type of A. Trojan Virus B. a virus C. bug D. all of the above, so watch out, usually they dont but i dont know.

But considering where u download those stuff are on warez sites, my guess its illegal. then again some one may correct me on that. just becareful for spy ware and adware while searching for stuff
