Battlefield Mods

well if this is a double post sry.

if anyone have seen the screenshots for Battlefield 2 (and ur a FPS fan) whose not excited? the E3 Videos were incredible and the gameplay looks awesome. reminds me alot of desert combat. its almost here too! but for those of u who are impacient like me and own the other battlefield series, if u have battlefield 1942 a new mod just hit the er... downloads i guess on fileplaent. BF40k, a mod that takes u to the warhammer realm, this is really well done and for a moment i thought i was looking at the Warhammer 40k Dawn of War zoomed in. so if ur a fan of that mgiht stop by and dl that. forgotten hope has been there for awhile and is rather a beauty to play. well textured and designed.

well curious of those battlefield fans and what there fav mods are.

haha... Downloading the BF 2 demo took me 12 hours due to the extreme load on their servers. I'm running it at medium settings and it actually looks just as good as Valve's Source graphics engine on high settings.. (Except I didn't have Anti Aliasing or that filtering on)

Is playing your own created game with 16 people in it more or less strenuous than playing say a 32 person multiplayer game? Because when i played the single player demo, with 16 AI soldiers... it ran very smoothly... I was suprised.... Lets just hope it runs that way when I start to play online.

One of my favorite battlefield mods is the BF Vietnam WWII mod..

BF2 runs pretty smoothly once you turn EAX off. I'm suprised it defaulted for me to be on especially because i have onboard audio but besides that, I run 4xAA and high on everything at 1024x768 and I never notice any slowdowns except for lag. It only took me 2 hours to download. I <3 Bittorrent. What do you guys think of the demo?

-On topic- My favorite mods for BF were Desert Combat and I want to get forgotten hope

The Battlefield 2 demo is out???!! I had no idea! I'm downloading it now. I was completely turned off by the Battlefield 1942 demo and never got into that game I've been playing JointOps and I love it. Does BF2 really only support 32 players? JointOps supports 150 and I really like that. It makes for a really intense battle when people are acutally working together.

I'm pretty sure it supports 64....

Could you tell me JointOps is about? How can a server support 150 and not lag? I might get that... I love teamwork... But unfortunately, in CS: S you can rarely get teamwork goin unless youre in a scrim or match....

Yeah I've got a 9800pro and it defaulted my settings to Medium... with no AA or that filtering (lol keep forgetting the term) I'm not sure if I want to upgrade my computer or not...

JointOps is set mostly in the jungle. There are tons of maps that come with the game (40 I think) plus all the custom maps. I don't know how it pulls off 150 people per server but I get very little lag. There are several game modes but my favorite is Advance And Secure. The goal is to take over all of the enemy bases. On the Orange Bowl server, which I play a lot, there is a 6 hour time limit so the match can last anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on how good the teams are. Unfortunately sometimes there is a stale-mate. There is a demo (see HERE ) and HERE is a review. Most of the bugs mentioned in that review have been fixed with patches.

the demo officially only supports 32 although the full game and some people with servers right now handle 64. I've played in some 64 player games and it's pretty smooth so far.

After finally getting the game to work (had to install the Nvidia drivers that came with it) I like it so far. I like how the helicopters and jets fly and the fact that I can use a joystick. I'll have to play it a bit more to see if I like it better that JO. There seems to be a major chronic problem... lag. I haven't found a server that doesn't lag horribly. I know it's not my PC because in single player it works fine with the graphics set to high. It's not my connection either.

which servers are you joining? I find the 15-42 ping servers have little lag. Also, the no time limit servers usually don't have lag either

I join a server called Fragnastica or something. If you put in the search box for "Frag" u will find it. Usually no lag. I love this demo, I am pre-ordering the game for sure. I like commander mode too. STRIKE HERE!!! BOOM!!!

In the demo I went to repair the artillery and when I approaced it I just died ("was no more"). Someone else tried it and they also died. Quite an annoying bug.

I'll be interested to see how the online ranking type system works.

The last few games I've had the commanders were simply rubbish, they gave orders every 30 seconds, generally to places on the other side of the map. Also changing orders from attacking one place to another when the first place hadn't been captured. Someone tried a mutiny vote but it failed. A ranking system might help avoid getting crazy commanders.

I've got to agree about the lag though, on most servers I generally experience some lag at some point during the game.

Another annoying thing is the resucitation - sometimes it takes 2 tried to revive someone. Is that intentional?

If a higher ranked person applies for the commander position, they will get it automatically. But i know what u mean about retarded commanders.

The lag is probably from people trying to make the demo do things it isn't suppose to. I see a lot of people have changed it on their servers so it can have more tickets, no time and lots more people, where I think the lag comes from.

What's the deal with commanders?? Can you only achieve the goals they specify or something?? If not, why not just ignore him...

Its not a good idea to ignore them since they can clear out a base for you, display where enemies are for u and even give u supplies (healthy, ammo, etc..) from the sky.
