Issues with Star Wars Republic Commando

Last night I installed SW Republic Commando. Installation went smoothly.
I placed Disc 1 back in to play the game. The first screen comes up and I select "Start Game". CD drive spins up and then I get the

"We are sorry; Star Wars Republic Commando has encountered a problem and must close."

message.

Here's what I've done so far:
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled
2. Ran DirectX daig. - passed all tests
3. Ran system analyzer included with game under options menu - passed
4. Installed on different computer and it went further, but ran into expected issues since the other comp had an older video card.
5. Checked LucasArts tech support for similar problem and none found.

System specs:
HP Pavillion a350y
ASUS P4SD LA Motherboard
2.8 GHZ CPU / 1 GHZ Ram
nVidia GeForce 5200 (ASUS V9520)
Win XP Pro and DirectX 9.0c installed

I'm thinking driver issues maybe, but not sure to update motherboard or video or both. If that's even the problem. I did find out that other people are running the game with the 5200 similar to mine.

Would appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

I would update ur video card driver and your chipset and see what happens. If that doesn't work than I would return the game.

I'm leaning towards the drivers myself. I'll let you know what happens when I get a chance to deal with it this weekend.

I would really appreciate that link spartan015.

Thanks for the link Spartan. I also appreciate the heads up on the other
idea. I doubt I will go that route though. Not real keen on the "illegal" stuff.

I'm hoping it's just the drivers myself. I'll keep you posted and thanks again.

Well, here's the update I promised. I've updated the motherboard and video drivers, ran memtest with no errors found. I downloaded the Battlefield 2 demo over the weekend and it ran smoothly for me. So I have come to the conclusion that it must be the game or one of the discs has a corrupted file. I wish to thank everyone who looked at this thread and those who offered suggestions on fixing it. However if someone has a fresh idea I would be willing to look into it. Now if I can see about getting my money back .

Thanks again,
