Flashpoint 2

All this talk about Battlefield 2 reminds me of my real (video game) love, Flashpoint! Ahh, the hours spent together were countless and joyful... Still I think it was the best millitary shooter ever despite clunky graphics and sound. Incredible mission builder let you create semi-dynamic missions with enough randomness for good replay value. Very realistic, decent AI, tons of vehicles and weapons and huge islands to explore and fight on. So I was very excited to read this:

Read : 400 sq. km maps! That would be perfect for incorporating ground units with aircraft! Can't wait for this one.

Ah yes flashpoint...was indeed a great game, but so damned hard, i was and am no novice with shooters but i just couldn't get very far with it. Still it was the most original and enjoyable shooter/war sim/whatever you want to call it, i have played.
I will definately give flashpoint2 a look when it arrives... and when i can afford a new computer

The Australian Defence Force was testing the viability of using a modified version of this for training soldiers in team tactics, it was that good. I agree it is very realistic, I reckon the most realistic game I've come across. One shot can kill you as it normally would, etc.

US Marine Corp is using a version of Flashpoint called VBS (Virtual Battlefield Simulation).

Check the screenshot:

Bet the USMC has a pretty nice LAN party setup!

They do actually, I've seen pictures of it. They were using it to train the troops before they deployed to Iraq
