what's wrong with my CS fps??
hi i just bought MSI geforce NX6600gt couple of days ago
and i tried playing cs with it when i checked my fps it was on 60... i asked people what their fps was and most of them had like 80+ im starting to wonder if my grahpic card is working correctly... i tried typing fps_max on the console and it says fps_max is 101 is my grahpic card working properly??? if not waht is causing such a low fps?? i have P4 3.2C, 1gig of ram, abit IC7-G, MSI geforce nx6600gt, and a very old monitor- 6years old- maybe this is the problem?? i dont think it is but.. |

The monitor makes no difference to performance.
What are your settings on compared to you're friends? I have a p4 2.8c and a gig of DDR400, with a evga 6600gt, and I get an average of 65 FPS, with the res on 1024x768, and texture on medium. Make sure you close all background programs like F@H, antivirus, firewall software, instant messengers etc before playing. BTW is this CS source? namakan |

vsync forces the game to run in sync with your monitor's refresh time. Some people like it on because it reduces tearing (sometimes a problem when you have a high FPS or fluctuations where the top part will tear away from the bottom) and because some people say it looks smoother. I myself play with vsync off in most games unless there's noticable tearing. In all honesty, 60FPS-100 isn't noticable

lol I was just exaggerating, ok i cant tell the difference between 30 and 150 fps
wow, everybody takes everything so seriously here ![]() The reason you had 60 fps is because vertical sync causes the limit to be 60, it helps "balance fps" however and in some opengl games its helpful to have it on, for example my doom 3 experience greatly improved with vsync Last edited by THECOMPUTERN()()B; 06-25-2005 at 11:30 PM. |

60 FPS is not slow. You most likely won't see a difference by getting higher frame rates. As long as it runs smooth don't worry about it.
