Help! .ut4mod files for UT2004 not working

just downloaded some more mods for unreal tournament 2004, but my computer can't open them properly. It asks for a program to use, but they used to just open and install themselves when I double-clicked them before. I put some of my older backed-up ut4mod files that I had previously installed back on my comp, and they didn't work either. What happened? is there another way to use them?

Try loading them from *within* the game. The mods are not ment to be run seperately.

The umods are self-installing files that are installed into the game like patches, then show up in the game. They used to work on this system/game, something changed.

The old ones have been installed and work fine, the new ones are on my desktop displayed with a generic icon and when you click them, Windows asks how to open them. The old ones were displayed with a ut icon and opened when clicked. I tried to reinstall the old ones just to check, and they do the same thing (can't open). Sorry, this is confusing.

thanks, i'll dwnld that utility. Reinstall? Ugghh. The game is on about 7 discs. I should've gotten the DVD version.
