New guy with Punkbuster problems

Hi Folks!

I'm new here and really appreciate the knowledge and insight from all of the members!

My problem is one I've had for a couple years and have not been able to fix. It's the "Punkbuster OS system error" prompt I get when trying to play any BF game on multiplayer! I've tried everything, but I'm not the most computer savy person around. Right now, I'm thinking of just installing a new hard drive and starting from scratch!

Is there a simple fix for this? I doubt there is since I brought the computer to two shops asking them to fix the prob and they can't! Maybe they (probably) don't have the skills that some of the fine members here!

I would really appreciate your help!

go there... make sure you have the new update, usually it automatically updates but sometimes it doesnt so the version wont match w/ the server thus... not letting you play. lol thats how it was in americas army when i didnt have autoupdate.

No real work arounds.
Go to the support crew and explain.
Be willing to back up everything (they've been lied to often).

Thanks for the help, guys!

I've decided to buy a new hard drive and start from scratch. If it still doesn't work, I'll go nuts!

Thanks again!

just curious... but how is a new hard drive going to help anything? what if its something to do w/ computer specs? or the auto update doesnt work so you have an old version of the Punkbuster... firewall blocking stuff? norton blocked punkbuster, i had to unblock it from the programs.

Well, believe it or not, the new hard drive fixed everything! I couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I started with a clean slate! Now I can play my BF games which pisses off the wife since nothing gets done. LOL!

spartan, in a way I'm with you, but I think the new harddrive most likely helped because it meant he reinstalled all the software, and potentially the file that was causing the problem was not reinstalled.
