problems with Dice games - BF1942 and BF2

hi,
i pretty much can't play BF1942 or BF2. I checked tonight I was getting 2-3 fps.
I have P4@3GHz, 1g of RAM, Radeon 9800PRO. Both games used to run fine.
I have latest ATI drivers. Where should I look?
I can play CS:S, DoD or Guild Wars fine. Thank you

If it was just BF2 I'd suggest lowering your texture and lighting levels to medium with 1 Gig of RAM and the 9800 Pro. Try lowering the settings of these and perhaps turn off anti-aliasing, and see if this fixes your problem. I don't actually know why you'd have trouble with BF1942 though...

Turning your video settings down to a mix of low/medium will help. Also (if not already) turn off dynamic shadow, dynamic light, AA, and put texture filtering on low. I have a 9800Pro & 1GB of RAM & this helped me.

Also, there are issues with the Catalyst 5.7 drivers & BF2. I had terrible graphics issues until I rolled back to 5.6 - no problems after that...

As of right now I'd wait getting BF2 - the game is full of issues. I think next patch is due sometime this months.

Right here:

You could also try the omega drivers at omegacorner.

i found a 5.6 Omega driver - was very unstable. I went back. I reinstalled latest 5.7 from ATI. However I think Xfire causes this problem. I've been shutting it down and game BF2 great.
