rig cant play neverwinter nights??
Ok I know it's older than dirt, but I hadn't played it before and have been through the demo. Well I found it cheap and am bored waiting for it to come. The demo version doesn't play worth a crap on my system in my sig. What is going on here? Most of the hardware in my case is better than top of the line stuff for nwn's time, and I can't run full settings. Im having to run at 2x AA and 1024x768 with most of the settings at half of max. I know that my system is capable of much better than this (hell I can run farcry at better settings than that!) so what is going on??

Stupid question, but, have you downloaded the latest patch for the game?

I forgot about this thread, I've been so busy with classes I dont have time to play it! Yes, I do have the newest 1.66 patch installed. I had the original NWN disc and it worked better, but my problem is now with the platinum dvd it lags terribly and hangs quite often.

Do you have the shadows on max? Try turning them down or off. I have them off on my computer as I find it gives me a MUCH better framerate. Physics are really hard work.

I don't have any programs running in the background. I haven't tried turning off the shadows. What bugs me is that I had the original NWN and after installing NWN platinum it crashes wayy more often, like every 15 minutes or so.
I get a blue screen of death with no words. I get this same BSOD even in morrowind, it happens less often, but it's not normal. I have the lastest catalyst drivers and cp and the latest audio drivers ect ect. |

Did you install the Platinum version over the existing NWN?

That was quick! No, I uninstalled the original NWN and deleted the directory, then installed platinum.

I'm starting to think this is hardware related. What is the message in the BSOD? Can you try playing Morrowind for a bit till you get the error and see if it's the same message as in NWN?

Which OS are you playing this game on? Have you tried the other one you have in your computer?

Well, yes and no. It doesn't crash on 98se, but the sound is really messed up. I can only hear part of the sounds, even in software mode, when testing the 2nd "knock" is audible but the second isnt. In game, the footsteps are audible, but no music or voices. I messed with it for awhile but figured that it would be easier to fix xp than the 98se.
