Game blink/lagging problems...
I just installed a new video card and now when I play all my games (Dawn of War, Earth 2150, Final Fantasy VIII, pretty much all except Starcraft Brood War) it will blink or lag every second or two. I have installed the new driver and everything but it still seems to have problems. My computer is fast enough for all the games so thats not it. Any suggestions?

It is an ATI card and I have updated directx. It does lag 'good' about every two seconds. My video card is a Radeon X800 Pro. Could it be a faulty video card or something running in windows that is conflicting?

What sort of things do you have running in the background?

Sometimes I find that with older games the picture will "blink". However that doesn't really explain it. What about installing older drivers from the ATi website. I often find that the newest drivers aren't always the best (especially the case with ATi at the moment (in my opinion, naturally)).

The type of things running in the background is just virus stuff (avast, ewido). I haven't tried downloading an older driver. I have talked with the tech support at ATI's website and they just told me that "maybe the card is deffective." I wish I knew what was going on.
