Games Stopped Working

Ok, I got this really weird problem, Both Doom3 and BF2 arent working, the doom just wont start up even if I manually run it, and then when I select play it just closes, this is without firewall. Then BF2 says that I am missing file d3dx9_25.dll, which I downloaded and unzipped from the internet.
Got any idea whats going on.

PS BF2 says that a fresh install again might fix the problem, and I have the latest drivers from nvidia.

have you tried reinstalling DirectX

Good idea, I just got BF2 running, but it constantly minimizes itself, odd eh, this used to happen to me on other games when I had other apps running, then when I used to close them they would work fine, this isn't the case for BF2, it minimizes it self with and without other apps running, I'm trying a new install of the driver because I was also get weird lines across the screen, nearly making it imposible to see.

okay, I reinstalled DirectX 9.0c and it got worse, the game wont even initialize ?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!!??

have you done all the necessary checks for virii, spyware recently? If those come up clean, I'd suggest either doing a complete wipe if you can or completely uninstall your current drivers and then do a run with drivercleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/

I do scans everyday, do you really think its a driver problem, because under easyfacts or what ever its called from the games autorun prompt menu it says that my display device, display driver, and sound driver all state "the compatibliity of this device is unknown", as you see in my sig, I have more than sufficent hardware to run BF2, Ill try to just install an older version of the nvidia driver.

Problems I was having with battlefield 2 were sorted when EA tech advised me to run "msconfig" and disabling all the programs that loaded on start up (under the start up tab). Seems it was Xfire that was causing crappy performance.

You might like to try the same thing. Go to run then type "msconfig", click the startup tab, then "disable all" (this might stop your firewall loading (didn't stop mine) so you might want to unplug your internet connection). Then try running the games.

Thanks so much guys, as of now I can play the single player wonderfully, I still get a weird minimize at the first splash screen, and horizontal lines at the load screen, but once the game starts it perfect (fast load times, no sticking or lockups).
Im going to try the disable all method if I encounter another problem, it is working to my standards now, so I don't think I should go about changing settings if its working.
