FarCry looks bad, and has cronic black areas on the ground. Also, it shows that there is no support for Direct3D under video options where it should be enabled.
I have an NVidia 6800GT card. Patch the game, or update the card driver? Is this a known issue with a fix? |

Yeah I had a hell of a time in the beginning with Farcry and the 6800GT.
You need to do both... update drivers and patch the game. The game patch is quite large... (75 Meg) http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=691 Update your card at nvidia http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp My game ran 100% after that and I enjoyed every last minute of it ...good luck!

Cool, I had a feeling I would have to patch the game.
Yep, it's big alright. It's an overnight download for me on my 56k dial-up. I have the latest driver 77.77xp2k ready to update the card with tonight. Thanks! |

Just as an update, the latest 6800 driver did not fix the game.
The patch is what is really needed here. |

The patch fixed everything. Best looking game that I've ever seen!
