Major problems with HL2 and my comp

HL2 will either freeze my computer or hl2 will just close itself in the middle of a game with no warning or anything. It does it alot, within the past hour this has happend probably close to 10 times. Ive had this game since it came out and have always had these problems. Thats why i havent finished the damn thing yet. Everythings up-to-date of course, in hopes that will someday fix the problem, but no.....

i have a p4 3ghz cpu, 1.5gig of ddr ram, Geforce 6800GT video card w/ latest driver.

any ideas?

Does this problem occur only in HL2, or all Source-based games, or just all games? Does this happen only after playing for a few minutes, or does it happen immediately?

I googled "the instruction at "0x241f94f7" there were several hits - all the ones I read on a quick review related to HL2 and video drivers needing updating.

So now you've updated all the drivers etc. as per their instructions, and it's still locking up?? Does it only do it at a certain point in the game?? (I'm thinking perhaps a corrupted game if you've tried everything else)

Perhaps try posting your specs and we'll see if an inspirations hit us... I really can't think of anything else, especially seeing as it's been an issue since the beginning, meaning it's most likely a lack in your computer.
