Question legacy style racing

What racing games would you say were the great games prior to Gran Turismo? Pole Position and Bump N' Jump are pretty legendary.

Might be able to get the ROM for Namco's Rally-X, a game featured on the Jakks 10 in 1 retro game controller.

My grandma gave this to me as a pesent. I opened the gift by my parents bed and was soo excited.

Hahahaha.... I have the one on the Playstation... comes with soundgarden songs on it!! I'm gonna break mah rusty caaaaaaaaaage etc.

I still occasionally go back to it to but the graphics are so bad they give me a headache
