Yet another problem in Hl2
Hi, since I bought this game ( about half a year before ) I only could play it in my fathers laptop. I builded my own PC hoping I could play this and some more games in it. The problem it is when I try to play it or any other game I get wierd video problems such as the one shown in the picture. Please help!!

some of them.. like the sims 2 has sort of the same problem

First things first... try updating the latest drivers from nVidias website

looks like your card is going....
play a video and see what you get....if you get dots and artifacts... i'd send the card in for repair or replacement....

I agree, your video card maybe on the brink of death. Does this occur as soon as you start up the game or a bit after. Also are there any dots or lines just in windows? It maybe overheating. You say this only happens with half-life 2 and sims 2? or everything graphic intensive? When my card was dying It would show artifacting (dots and lines) when in windows.
