WoW (farming)
Alright, I think we have a few players here. Anyone care to share their farming secrets?
I'm talking harvesting cash. I need to start saving for a mount now. I'm on my third character (hunter) and the other two I played (pally and lock) get free mounts. The only sure fire thing I've found so far is spider's silk (vanilla). I found a place where I can gather about 10-15 of these an hour and these sell in the AH for about 1G each on my server. My professions for the hunter are skinning and leatherworking. Would I be better off selling the trade goods (stacks of leather)? Or using these to build up my leatherworking skills and selling the leather goods? Any help would be appreciated...

personally at the moment im mining and enginering but i see a ton of plants around so im prolly going to drop my enginering and start herbalism so i can just sell the goods ( i sold 20 copper ores for about 90silver last nite in an auction for 2hrs, it barely took me any time to mine the ore and smelt it so i think thats a good profit) however before i do drop engenering im going to check the herbalism items on my auction house today and if there decent prices im def. droping it!

what level are you? I think starting around level 40-42, you can start farming SM GY for money. sneak past the first boss kill all the non elite ghosts come out and reset, I don't think they'll aggro you but I'm not sure since you aren't a rogue. Otherwise, the best place to get money around lvl 40 is farming the place right outside of camp mojache. If you are alliance, there will probably be horde there. There are lvl 40-42 bear and wolves that drop 8s-10s random gray loot. Oh and be sure to ask a high level to hook you up since they can buy a mount for 8g cheaper then you can (unless you have PvP rank 3)
edit- wow... spiders silk is 1g each.... I think on my server, you can't get rid of high level silk for 1g per stack. Why don't you just try skinning the spiders you kill for the silk and then selling the extra leather?

As far as the professions go, your best bet is to sell the leathers you skin. There is very little in leatherworking that can turn a profit, except for some of the high level stuff that requires a serious time investment to make. If you're looking to drop leatherworking, pick up either mining or herbalism, and just sell what you get. Avoid mining/herbalism though, since you can only have either mineral or plant tracking up on your minimap at one time.
You can also try the turtles near steamwheedle port in Tanaris, if you can handle them. I think they're around 42-43. They drop clams, which can contain pearls, and random grey junk that sells pretty well. I think I even got a few greens from them. Plus, you can skin them for turtle scales and leather, the scales can sell pretty well since you need like 100+ for the wild leather quests. IMHO, your best bet farming is going to be SM, either soloing the graveyard, or in a group. Last edited by Med; 09-14-2005 at 12:23 AM. |

I have a big problem with getting money in WoW. Im always so poor and i never buy anything, i dont get it. I even run everywhere instead of using the wind master just to save a silver. Any advice for cash would be great, im only lvl 26.

Howdy, ive been playing alot of WoW lately, up to lvl 33 now and finally starting to make a bit of money. I got my leatherworking skill high enough now that im making some pretty good stuff. I can now make a pair of gloves that are excellent and is a Blue item that sells for 3 to 4 gold a peice but require spider silk and elixirs of defense. So ive been farming leather in the shimmering flats and spider silk in ashenvale and making a bundle lately. Pretty time consuming though. Got a buddy that makes me elixirs of defense in trade for heavy armor kits so that works out well.

I'm a 58 Hunter (Snipererer on Bronzebeard), I find that farming the Carrion Grubs and Devourers in the Eastern Plaguelands is good. Farm them for their Larval Acids, worth 10-20g each. Or you can grind Elementals for Essences.
For mid 30s to early 40s, the Venture Co. guys at Lake Nezfereti in Stranglethorn Vale are great to grind/farm. The Shredders drop Fused Wiring about 10% of the time, worth 2-5g apiece. I can make 20g in an hour grinding those guys. The Geologists are standard Humanoids, drop coin and cloth. They are casters so have low armour, and a ranged attack, great for Hunters! Lvl34-37 mobs. They increase faction with Booty Bay aswell. I grinded those guys from lvl36-40. Once those guys are too low, the Bloodscalp Trolls are good http://www.thottbot.com/?m=81281 For a map. |

ok first of all the only proffessions that make coin is alchemy and herbalism , all high end weaps and armors you create at higher levels are crap and wont be bought . Noone bothers with enchants till they have there end gear. People who raid will always want quick potions and pay well since they are high level . I sell Greater Shadow Protection potions for 20g a stack on Silverhand , herbs that sell very well are Plaguebloom , Ghost Mushrooms , Grave Moss , Fadeleaf, Dreamfoil . Goblin Rocket fuel is a gold mine too , the mats are dirt cheap and ya dont even need to farm them . Buy arcane crystal for 15-18g and transmute them for an Arcanite Bar sale of 28-30g. Fishing is profitable too if you got the patience, Stonescale eels sell for 1-2g each. If I go nuts on the AH I can pull in 100g a week , mostly I buy stuff and get crafted for guildmates . I farmed some Stone Guardians once all day with a trusty priest and crafted 4 Cloaks of Warding for some guildmates (I couldve sold each one for 80g)... so to recap ..alchemy/herbalism , stuff to farm :guardian stones, felcloth, runecloth , devilsaur leather, herbs listed.. and during RAIDS make sure you grab anything you can fit in your bags!! most grey items sell for 1-2g to vendors. also profitable is felcloth convertions to mooncloth if your a tailor. I have 3 characters to cover the best proffessions that interact together. alchemy/herbs/mining/leatherworking/tailoring/enchanting
if you gots any questions PST ![]() Usilmiore lvl 60 lock on Silver Hand
