CS:S Problems

Hey,

Well basically the problem is that i can no longer play cs:s. Ive tried re-installing it but nothign seems to help. First of all, when i run CS:S and click 'Join Server' I can't connect to any, i get the message that 'no users are playing on this server' and the servers ping shoots up to 1000+, i can no longer connect to servers on my favourite list, even my clan one (i know its working and active) but it doesnt seem to ever let me connect, it even sometimes changes the IP if i try to add it again. Its getting realy fustrating now, i havent changed anything to do with my connection or firewall and it used to work fine. Any ideas?

oso

mine updated something and then i couldn't connect.
I think the firewall saw it as a new program without permission.

Then I tryed without my firewall and when i finally get in but a massive amount of lag... really bad. I tryed to play Half-Life2 and when I loaded the game... same thing LAG(?).

It was definately the 23/9 update - it has destroyed CSS for thousands of players, including me.

I get about 4 servers in my >100 ping server list now (if I'm lucky). i can just about manage to get into a game then it crashes on me after about 5 mins.

There are a couple of workarounds on Valve's website but no real fixes. People are crying out to get the update rolled back. I did hear that they realesed a patch to the patch yesterday, but I believe this is causing more problems. Can't comment as haven't tried for a few days knowing that the CSS experience is so terrible.

Now this is odd though - ever since the CSS update my BF2 pings have gone sky high too. I'm talking like 200-300 when I used to get 50 or so. It's a constant thing too as without be able to play CSS i have been playing much more BF2 and it is happening all the time.

Coincidence I'm sure but if I was paranoid i'd think it was industrial sabotage!

I can get into CSS servers and play, but the 'lag' (my ping still under 50) makes it suck. I paid for DOD 2 weeks ago so I could play it when it came out... alot of fun, not being able to play.
