Day of Defeat Source

Anyone going to be playing it? It's supposed to come out today at 3 PDT time or something like that. Any idea what eastern time would be at 3 PDT time?
Well anyways I pre-ordered it and i hope I can play it today. It should be good.

anyone played it yet?
i've been playing since day one. DoD is definitelly the best infantry based online game.
Valve is still working out some bugs and it has only 4 maps. But anyway it has less issues than BF2.

Yeah I have played it but not since it came out. I dont like the maps they all seem the same to me, and im not a big fan of capture the flag. I hope when they release new maps some you will be able to plant/defend a bomb.

I have played it some. The graphics are excellent and the gameplay is fun but MOH: AA keeps sucking me back in.

I never enjoyed DoD as much as I enjoyed other MP games... I don't know why, it just seemed lame

I was never a fan of the original DOD but I must say DOD:S is awesome. I used to be a big CS:S player but now I hardly even touch that game even though I run a server for it. I find DOD to be much better visually and there is a whole lot more laughs that CS:S. I understand that many people are upset with the game but w/e they are entitled to their opinions.

Thats CS. DOD has different gameplay that CS. Plus there isnt much point of defending a bomb in WWII. Kinda dumb to fight a war blowing yourselves up.

Thanks for the heads up - I really was completely unaware. Now more excuse to procrastinate work

I pre-ordered it when I bought the Silver pacakge off of steam. "Coming Soon" meant coming in a year hahaha. I'm a huge fan of DoD 1.3, but I think DoD Source needs a lot of fixes.

Pros:
-Graphics
-Havok Physics (even though it eats my CPU alive)
-Spamming german commands
-Sound effects are amazing
-Punching someone in the face and hearing them shriek out in horror
-blood! I dont understand why so many FPS dont even have blood?

Cons:
-Requires a current machine to play with all the features (I've got all of my settings on low and It still isnt the smoothest thing... It just rapes my 9800 and AMD XP)
-Only 4 maps with release (once all of the classics are remade it'll be cool)
-Sticky physics .. Sometimes you kinda stick to your own players
-No walk button (why do you have to crouch to be silent?!)
-Iron Sights (The dumbest thing they ever implemented into this game. NO its not meant to be a WW 2 simulation!! The game is too darn fast pace to right click to zoom in a bit with your kar98. They're trying too hard to be like CoD...)
-Kar no longer a 1 shot kill... (yeah I know it makes it more realistic that someone doesnt die if you shoot them once in the foot... But the classes are uneven now... You shoot a person...and since its a bolt action rifle by the time youre ready to shoot again you're dead)
-Uneven classes... the assault class with the smoke nade, regular nade, smg, pistol, AND the option to punch makes them way too powerful IMO.

Overall, it still has that DoD feel to it. It definately needs some bugs worked out though. But that will come over time... I just hope that Valve is quicker with releasing updates... I like DoD Source... but it definately needs some improvement.... But hey... at least the running animations look half way normal... In CoD ... peoples movement looks so fake... Enough of my ranting though.

My machine is anything but current and I play at the highest settings. Maybe you have something else slowing you down.
