I don't really know exactly how to raise my score, I downloaded the new drivers for my card and my score actually went down 50 points. My friends say I should be getting at least 8000, any idea on what is wrong or what I can do to increase it?

thanks.

I'm not sure what you're worried about. Those scores are fine, you won't necessarily get 8000. Make sure to kill any uncessery programs running in the background - I know doing that boosted my score by like 200 or so.

Of course overclocking the card would probably take you up to 8000. Make sure your friends aren't talking about the version that comes pre-overclocked.

That doesn seem like a low scores, with two 6800s i get 7448 give or take 10, each time i run it, a 7800gtx should beat that. And get rid of some back ground apps, like msn or mediaplayer.

ah thank you guys. they made it sound like there was something wrong with my system :/

will another gig of ram have any effects on gaming? I'm going to buy another gig for my cinema 4D program (having more ram cuts down on rendering time in projects).

Depends on the game. For say BF2, yes you'll see an improvement, really it needs 2GB to run smoothly...in older games you may not see a huge improvement. And would also probably cut down rendering time.

I am pretty sure 3D Marks is almost 100% video cards, but really what does it matter your benchmarking scores, I mean the 7800gtx is an insane card and your have a really nice system, dont worry about it.

Still, it has to load textures and models into memory - though I haven't checked to see how much memory it uses.

I can think of only a few ways you might get it to run faster.

More memory..up your memory to 2 gigs of overclockable memory.
Watercool the CPU and video card...then overclock.

Your card and CPU are pretty balanced out. (one is not necessarily causing a lag on the other)

You have a pretty decent score and with overclocking you risk damaging components.
