1.03 BF2 crashes to desktop after splash screen!!!
Hi all,
Have any of you fellows bumped on this insident on BF2. After starting the game, splash screen shows, then screen turns to black and after some flickering it crashes to desktop. This started to happen after 1.03 patch. One more mystic thing with this. I have I friend who owns practically identical hw-setup as I have. Mine is working fine but my friend is not able to play anymore. We have ABIT KV8PRO mobos, Athlon XP 64bit +2800 processors, 1 GB RAM (mine is Kingston, other is Buffalo), Radeon 9800 Pro graphic cards (mine is Club3d and my friends gpu is Saphhire), same XP version and so on... It's not the gpu, we switched them, Sapphire is working fine on my setup. Could this be memory related or does any of you know some other possibility? My friend has tested all Catalyst drivers published within few months, no help. Game is reinstalled and repatched many times with no success. If put back to 1.02 state game is performing fine. WTH is this, just can't understand???

did u try the stuff reccommended on that post "problems with 1.03 update" or title sometihng similar
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=141995 that i think is the article. try the stuff they recommdend (before u do a complete reinstall)

Yep, noticed but everything is tried and still no go
I noticed that thread and actually answered on one question, but it seems that it is going a bit off topic. Latelly discussion was concerning Invalid CD key matter, and this is a bit different thing, so I decided to re-open this question with original problem.
We were asking what to do from our local EA agent in Finland. He gave us really original answer: Remove, reinstall and repatch. LOL! As we havent tried this many times. He dared to give this answer even as we have included this information on our question. God damn robot!!! Well I bet it is teached on EA customer support school, that if u don't know the real answer and u are a lazy dumb smack with no real intention to give support, give this answer, and he will go away  Any new ideas anybody? |
