Half Life 2 owner transfer
I was planning on getting HL2 GotY Edition because it has Half Life: Source with it. I enjoyed the first one so an updated version looked good to me. I already have HL2 and was wondering if I have to give someone my account or is there a way to totally un-register HL2 with steam so I could sell my copy to a friend? Any help would be great. I would ask steam but it's not letting me log on, but it lets me log to play HL2.

Don't know... but I'm curious to hear the answer in case I also have need to "get rid of" a prior copy.

You cannot leagally get rid of it by "simply" giving him the password and username and then promptly changing all pertinent information - that would be illegal. There was a surcharge you have to pay in order to transfer the account, which for the life of me, I cannot find anywhere.

I find it amazing that you buy a car, once, and a DVD, once, and so on, and can do anything with them after you're done. So, are you saying that the folks at HL2 actually charge for the same product again?? Wow... (sorry... I'm just flabergasted at the very thought of that.)

Of course you do... I mean, it costs them.... stuff to do....things and such
It's prolly an admin cost, and in their opinion that justifies the price |

Good link, sdkfz! -- Stuey83, good point, but it use to be OK to give a car to a relative in some states. Haven't done it for a while, but I'd guess most states want the $$ for such things. What I was getting at, though, is you don't pay Chevy / Ford / Toyota, etc once again to give / sell a car to your kid, nephew, friend, Grandma, etc...
