Runescape issue?
My girlfriends son can't get sound to play on his computer when playing runescape. On two occassions while we were out he asked if he could play runescape on our computer because the sound works on ours. Today I noticed that I can't get the sound to work on another program I have, that used to work before. Everything I checked seems to be ok. Anyone know of any ssues with runescape and sound drivers. I didn't find much in a google search.

Have you tried contacting Runesca[e support? Are using an alternative browser?
I found this from their site "Runescape members using FireFox/Mozilla/Safari will not be able to hear sounds from the game. Our development team is currently working hard to correct this, but in the short-term, consider using Microsoft Internet Explorer."

The problem isn't not getting sound when using runescape. The problem is that after the computer was used for runescape, I couldn't get sound using programs that I normally could before. One example is I could no longer play music using winamp. I could get sound using windows media player though. I also no longer get sound when using Guitar Vision. I am not saying runescape caused this, but I want to find out if anyone has experienced these problems with runescape. I am trying to find out why all of a sudden many of my programs won't play audio. I am not a gamer so I wanted to ask this question from the folks who do play, while I also explore other possibilites.

here is what they have said so far - maybe they have a solution on the way.
"Hi Ryan124712, Thanks for your RuneScape bug report. All reports of bugs and errors in the game are dealt with by a member of our testing team. We have noted the particular fault that you have mentioned and a tester will look into your bug report shortly." |

Sad to inform you but this is what they wrote back. Looks like they either have automated responses or are stuck up on their rich butts and the support team doesn't want to help - I bet if this happens to you, it happens to more people - they should be all over it searching for an answer. I am kinda disapointed; I liked to play that game on and off -now with the crap support -that is it - I am not playing it anymore.

Thanks for the help. As I said, I don't know that runescape caused my problem, but It seemed a little parculiar that it's problems seemed to be mostly sound issues and after it's played on my computer I start to have sound issues. I found one response on another forum where someone claimed a trojan horse had got downloaded while playing runescape that affected one of his sound DLL. But that site was inconclusive and not very helpful, Plus I have plenty of safegaurds on my PC. I did reload my sound drivers and now Guitar Vision is working again. I haven't tried winamp though since Windows Media works good enough. Thanks again.
