Helping finding a suitable game

Ok this may seem dumb but I need your help. I need to find a stock market game that is free, and uses real stocks with real prices and the prices are updated daily. Free would be nice, but you get what you pay for. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly apprecitaed. Thanks in advance.

Yahoo finance (finance.yahoo.com) has a stock market game where you are given an imaginary $100,00 to invest. You compete against others online to see who can make the most money out of that initial investment...with real prizes. The money you make or lose is based on real listed companies and real stock prices. You create your own stock portfolio of whatever stocks you choose to buy with that imaginary 100k and yahoo finance creates that online portfolio which shows you in near real time (15 minute delay for NASDAQ and 20 min for NYSE) how much your portfolio is worth. I used to play it and it was great fun. I used it to practice swing trading.

Actually, you could if you could get a loan for that much... I have a friend who has taken out loans totalling $40,000 and invested it in the market straight away. He's paying 8% interest on the loan, and it's earning 12%. This means all he does is pay the interest off, and reinvests the rest so he doesn't pay capital gains tax on it.

ok here is the best "MARKET" Game i have played http://www.hsx.com/, you even can buy actors i think, and earn money, do splits, take bets w/e.. BTW this is only for movies, so like u know a new movie is gonna come out and make big invest in there make money..possibility is endless. All the stats of movies, actors, revenues in this game are based on real events..like if a movie completely goes down the drain on the real world, so does in here. That's why u'll need www.the-numbers.com to look at actual facts and invest...good luck and have fun

its real, its updated a lot, and hmm idk how real they could make it without actually using real money

kosova out

Here's a good one, http://virtualstockexchange.com

It's completely free, and prices are pretty accurate, I use this myself to practice, plan to invest some in the stock market someday.

It's based on the American Stock Exchanges, NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, along with some OTC stocks, even has Mutual Funds!

You can start up your own competitions, with designated money starting out, price for commissions, margins, ect. Very nice simulation.

You know, if there are enough people interested, maybe we can have our own little stock competition on virtualstockexchange.

let's not, and im not trying to be negative..i use to play games that took a lot of time, like the one i suggested, war of conquest aka woc and statenations.com i think..and man they took away all my time from 5-9hrs a day, at the end of it I learned nothing. Now i only stick to internet reversi and solitare...they help me calm down and think..u wouldnt believe how much it relaxes me

Woah there, how can it possibly take 5-9hrs for a movie-stock simulation, unless its all those things combined (woc, ect) , HSX, resembles the real stock markets pretty well, but much perfer more real-like simulations. Insane active trading or what? Open all day? Hardcore researcher? :s

I usually only spend 10mins or less a day on VSE, buy/sell/ect shares in xyz, then go off and do something else.

Oh well, just throwing the idea out, haha.

hsx doesnt take 5hrs but woc took that much..but yea i was a very heavy researcher..hsx took like an hour or two..i read reviews, looked up who was gonna play wat..i mean i was determained to win..and let me remind anyone that i am not suggesting u dont play these games, im just saying that I PREFER games that are pure and simple, i can usually think whats been going on my whole day/week..relax and try to win..it relaxes me really really good/well.

I'm willing to play - I could see how it could take a lot of time, but I believe that if we had enough people then we could share tips and all gain in the end. I know it would help me in real life trading in the future. Perhaps there is someone here who really knows some inside info on stocks, and could make us all rich .

That is an extremely large amount of time dedicated to a game at one time.

Just my two cents

You get $100,000 to invest...I just started yesterday evening, and have $25,000 invested in a bunch of stocks so far...so we'll see how things go Monday...
