After a reinstall you need to reinstall your drivers for your cards again.
If you did that... in the game hi F11 and you can edit your video settings to what ever will look best on your pc....

possible guild wars update bug?
Guild Wars was just updated for the 2nd time this week a day or three ago. A friend of mine running a P4 class Celeron System with 1Gb of ram and a NVidia Geforce FX5700 has experienced random computer shut down along with Guild Wars locking up. The only way to get out of it is Alt-F4 for some strange reason. I, myself, have had close the EXACT problem you're having. I am using an almost identical system build except that I am running a NVidia 6600.
Guild Wars does not lock up or cause a reboot on my system. I updated my video drivers though and thats when I had your problem. The ground was all blocky looking. The colors were in square patches. I just minimized the game and when I brought it back up it was fine until I went to another area or town. Try changing the drivers for your card to something newer/older. Give the Guild Wars crew a few days or a week or so and Im sure they will patch their most recent updates with a mass of bug fixes. GW Characters: Kie Lightstep(LvL20 R/E) Gilliad Alluviel(LvL20 Mo/W) Boo and Minsc(LvL20 W/Mo) Letum Velox(LvL20 N/E) Catch me online sometime and maybe we can quest around or somethin.... Hope you get your problem resolved soon. |

i have a 6600gt too but is your problem solved yet, maybe its just a issue with these cards, which nvidia driver do you have, and what did you have before it had the problem

lol sorry
No I dont think its a problem with the cards. Like I said before, I didnt have the problem until I updated my drivers for the card. There were new ones out and they had some new features for the 6600 cards and I thought it would be good to have them. I was wrong. I ultimately had to go back to the older drivers for the card. That fixed the problem. Sorry I left that out of the first post. I rambled on and on and forgot to get to the point. My apologies.
I still think its just bugs in Guild Wars. Give it some time.

so how long do you think it will be until nvidia or guildwars make a patch or driver that fixes it

?
Well as of yesterday, the Guild Wars crew releasted a crash fix. I am not sure if it will fix your problem. It could be from any number of crash bugs in the game. I would log in and check everything out. If the most recent fix isnt what you're looking for then all you can do is wait a little longer. Its hard to say when they will get to it. Crash fixes are released very often.

well i just switched to 78.01 drivers and guild wars worked perfectly. so now its a driver problem, should i just leave this driver there until newer ones come out. and could it also be heat thats causing this problem

yea those drivers are fine... i think, but may be mistaken, that there are even newer drivers out than the ones you have......but i dont use them... right now im using the same as you... guild wars runs SMOOOOOTH...
did that fix all of your problems though? if so then it was probably a driver issue... i doubt heat is the problem unless you OCed your video card or whatnot.. BTW: add "Kie Lightstep" to your friendslist...
