Problems with COD Multiplayer

For the past three weeks, COD crashes my computer when trying to play COD multiplayer. Can get into a game for about 5 min, then system locks and restarts. Comes back with "driver error". ET multiplayer runs fine, COD single player runs fine. I've checked the event viewer and consistently get two system errors: source: system error, category: 102, event: 1003 and source: atapi, event: 9.
Video driver has been updated.

My configuration:
mob Gigabyte 7vrx kt333 4xagp
AMD Athlon 1800XP 1.53 ghz
Primary HD Maxtor 40gb 7200 rpm (games and game files on this HD-18.7 gb free)
Secondary HD Samsung 120 gb 7200 rpm (new)
1 gb pc2700 Corsair DDR (two sticks 512)
Leadtek GeForce-3 TI200 128 mb
WinXP Pro
Liteon SOHW 1693S DVD+/-RW (new)
generic CD/RW

It seemed the problem started when I added the new HD, but have since disconnected it and the problem persists.

What do I check next?

I could be totally wrong , but is your video card up to the task ???
It looks an old card , and maybe you should update your drivers , and run it on low spec. What other current games can you run ???

You're right the card is "old", but it has done a great job with RtCW, RtCW-ET, BF1942, COD single player and COD multiplayer, and most recently Brothers in Arms (set on minimum).
It's only been recently that COD multiplayer is causing the crashes. Recent upgrades were installation of the new DVD player (no problems), then a month later the new HD (maybe coincendence problems started). I didn't move any game-related files to the new HD.
Anyway, after doing some more checking, it looks like I need to update IDE and audio drivers. Will see if that helps.
Note, we're on dial-up service. Don't have an option for anything faster out in our neck of woods.

updated audio and IDE drivers and so far no crashes! Another post mentioned Driver Detective. That was a helpful suggestion. Gave me a start as to which drivers needed updating. Went to the manf sites though to get the updates rather than pay the fee.
