Why doesn't the matrix formula work???

I cannot understand how this has failed 3 times!!!! The Matrix was one of, if not the best movies ever. The plot and concept are extremely close to what should please gamers. HOWEVER, the people who make this game have failed miserably now thrice. As an mmorpg the Matrix had potential, I saw it develop through the beta test. It was really good! However it was released too close to WoW to gain populairty and lacked variety.

Now Path of Neo seemed to be finally what I had long awaited!!! Pulling off those matrix moves in realtime?!? Yeah! But alas it too appears to be a let down. The graphics don't mimic what I'd hope the Matrix would look like. SO I spoz the question posed here is...

WHY CAN'T ANY DEVELOPERS MAKE IT WORK!?!?

The supplies are all there, actors, voice talent, but something's always lacking. Why doesn't one of the bigger game companies develop this??? It has the potential to be huge.

Movies to games never really tend to work out. Every time you make the mistake of playing one of these, with the exception of a very small few, you get reminded of that.

you cant forgett the matrix (the movies) have been out for a long time, you can catch em everywhere from starz to hBO. I myself am plainly sick of em, too much, i really use to love em. When i played one of the matrix games, dunno which one, it just got boring, there was no plot just escape the agents blah blah. The matrix needs an innovating plot to carry the missions.. I think a big mistake was on the writers part to actually end the movie instead of leaving it with an "wat if question" but dont get me wrong that could be the case since NEO could like get up and try to kill the machines in another movie or w/e..just seems boring doesnt it, man against the world.

Not enough plot variation... you're trying to achieve the same thing in each level, with no real difference between them

jagg well put, thats what i was trying to say. ALl 3 movies are the same thing, over and over..kinda interesting its one of those formulas i believe there are 10 in our society and one is "boy gets girl, boy loses girl, and boy gets girl again"

Personally, I think they should have stopped with the first movie. It was such a ground breaking and perspective changing movie that nothing could ever fill it's shoes, and any sequels were just riding on it's coat tails for residual profits.

As far as the games, I think the big thing that is wrong with them is that they focus too much on the awesome moves, and not on the plot. It's all about slow-mo kung fu, and not about the complete mind trip that the original movie was.

Plus, there is no real way to convert the Matrix to an MMO. The physics of time prevent it from being awesome. In a perfect world, one person would be able to slow down time, and control a myriad of moves in what to them appeared to be real time, but to everybody else was sped up. If that didn't make sense, think of the sparring scene between Morpheus and Neo in the original. To us, and to any other onlookers, they were just blurs. To them, they were moving normally, everything else was just slow.

True, but as a third person game it should work! The moves are awesome, and the time thing is almost Max Payne esque. I would love it, but for the plot. True they ended the movies. But they can make up bullcrap in between, trace the trilogy AND add a few things. Like why the guy goes bad, how things first start, through all the chase scenes and fight sceens. They have everything, just maybe add a little creative variations to keep things interesting. It is after all what they do!

If you ask me the movie togame move never should of evolved past E.T. when that flopped, they should've caught on.

The only movie converted into a game that are even half decent are the StarWars games...I think thats about it.

You really need to read the gaming reviews before buying a new game. I can't tell you how many times I have wasted $49.95 before learning the hard way.

not sure if this is for games also but when i read movie reviews they always are wrong. Famous movies like Spiderman or Batman always get good rating for no reason while original movies that are actually creative and intersting always get stamped "could have done better" but yea everyone should read what they are getting before they do. Just remember that some expect too much, and some expect nothing at all so read lots of reviews

This is why I trust yahoo movies...because real people actually rate them. But I think the Matrix should work as well as star wars. Max Payne was a great game right? Matrix should be something like that, it would have worked but the graphics suck...badly.
