F.E.A.R. demo...
Who's run this?
How demanding is it? I've got a new video card I want to put through it's paces in a real game and, just at the moment, this is the only thing around that might push it.

Yes.
ATI canceled my order for the X800pro so I went looking for another card to fit my $200 or less budget. It was going to be an 6600GT till I started reading the reviews for the X800GT. I'll write a hardware review when I get the time. |

I ran it with a 9800 pro with no problems, though the game is good...its just not for me.

pam,
You should have no trouble with F.E.A.R. with that card. You should be able to run it with most settings on high, though AF and AA might need to be set a little lower. I would try it on high and see if it gets laggy on you. It's a cool game, the A.I. in the game is excellent, and the last bit of the demo is downright freaky. ![]()

Thanks.
I'll run the demo, I just didn't want it to be a total waste of time. |

In addition to F.E.A.R., you could download the COD2 demo. It pushes the graphics card hard as well. In fact, I just read an article somewhere that showed that this game was almost entirely GPU dependant, as a bunch of CPU's they tested were almost identical in performance. Try out F.E.A.R. and then try out the COD2 demo....should give the new vid card a workout.

I have the retail version of FEAR, and on my 9800 Pro I had to run everything on medium. Now that I picked up an X800XL this past week, I run everything on high except for soft shadows and enjoy a very playable framerate. The only part that seems to chug every now and then is the very beginning, but other than that, it runs excellent.
